Who am I? Why am I here?
Have you ever asked these questions? Sure, we all have at some point.
There are times when we get frustrated. We watch other people have purposeful lives. Yet we feel stuck. We have no fulfillment in our own lives. We have no sense of direction. We know God has a plan and purpose but what is it?
Exodus 9:16 (NLT) – But I have spared you for a purpose- to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth.
Job 42:2 (AMP) – I know that You can do all things, And that no thought or purpose of Yours can be restrained.
Proverbs 19:21 (AMPC) – Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand.
If your struggling to find your purpose and calling. Ask yourself these three questions:
- Why? This is the foundation of your calling. What are you passionate about? Determining your passion helps you figure out what God wants you to do. What are your gifts? Where your gifts meet your passion is where you will find your calling. Then when you are given an opportunity in the area you are passionate and gifted in, say yes!
- Who? Your “who” are the people you want to help.Do you want to help out women, children, teenagers? When you find your “who” figure out how are you going to reach them. Is there an opportunity to serve at your church? Maybe start an online ministry, or maybe using social media.
- Who am I? Think about yourself separate from your why. You have a story to tell. You have something to offer. What is it? What is burning in your heart to share and what are you willing to share?
Answering these three questions will help you find your purpose and calling.
Prayer,
Father, we thank you for choosing us. Reveal to us what our calling and purpose is. Answer the questions we have about why and who you want us to help. Most importantly, remind us when we ask, who am I.
Amen!
