Has the Lord ever told you to do something that you didn’t want to do? You might think, Lord, I can’t do that! Can’t someone else more qualified do that? Do I have to do that right now? Do I have to read my bible today? I don’t know that person, do I have to pray for them? Do I really have to give up this thing that I love so much? But Lord I don’t want to!
Many times, we are waiting on God for our blessings but yet God is waiting on us to be obedient. We are comfortable and want to stay that way. We want to go to the next level with God but something is missing. We can blame the devil for our lack but really it is ourselves that holds us back. We are keeping ourselves from our purpose. Here are three things to get us going in the right direction.
- Accept what god wants us to do– Hebrews 10:36 (NIRV) – You need to be faithful. Then you will do what God wants. You will receive what he has promised. God will not make us do something we can’t do. So be quick to act. God tells us do something because He is about to give us what He promised but we need to be obedient.
- Quit being lazy– We can become spiritually lazy and do just enough to get by. Don’t just read a scripture and say a quick prayer. Proverbs 20:4 (CSB) – The slacker does not plow during planting season; at harvest time he looks, and nothing is there. Start planting your seeds in God so you won’t be left with nothing.
- Stop holding yourself back– We give the devil to much credit when we are the ones holding ourselves back. We might fear we are not enough. We think there is someone better than us. How can we be the one God needs? Gods says in Joshua 1:9 (BBE) – Have I not given you your orders? Take heart and be strong; have no fear and do not be troubled; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Father, we are your children called to do great things. Remind us that you are with us wherever we go. You want to bless us but we have to be obedient to our calling. Help us to accept what you want us to do. Take all spiritual laziness and get us out of our comfort zone. We don’t want to hold ourselves back anymore. Keep us focused in the right direction when we think But Lord I don’t want to!
Amen!
